G-TRAIN

by Maria Knisely

And I see you every morning
on the train
in the crowd
Electric eye contact forces my chin down
for you have the power to suspend
my emotions
in that feeling
that breathless, glorious feeling
one experiences just before
a giggle
or a sob.
When I am certain you've looked away
I glance back to you trying to decide
if you noticed me blushing
or the corners of my mouth
as they curl.
Then I close my eyes
for that's the time I get to inspect
your dimples up close,
feel your mustache on my cheek and
kiss the smile that you save for this stranger.
